Connecticut Library Association Executive Board
As part of our role as co-chairs of the Reference & Adult Services Section of the Connecticut Library Association, my co-chair and I have held the following workshops:
Library Services for Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
April 2022, Zoom
The CLA Reference and Adult Services Section is presenting a workshop on domestic violence and sexual assault featuring Matt Austin, Director of Education, Training & Outreach at The Center for Empowerment and Education, Danbury, CT. This is the second in a series of workshops focused on underserved members of our communities.
This training will explore the dynamics and impact of domestic violence and sexual assault, identifying and responding to a victim, and appropriate referrals. We will also look at some ways that libraries can improve the way they interact with and reach survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault.
Library Services for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities
March 2022, Zoom
The CLA Reference and Adult Services Section is presenting a workshop on library services for adults with intellectual disabilities featuring Leah Plocharczyk and Matthew Connor. Our presenters, co-authors of Libraries and Reading: Intellectual Disability and the Extent of Library Diversity, will cover programs, collection development, outreach, and creating a welcoming environment in the library. This is the first in a series of workshops focused on underserved members of our communities.
